Well, last night, I went to the range and rented the Hellcat to try it out. I was recently at the range and ran 10 rds through at which point the bolt hold open functioned as expected and I removed and reinserted a new mag. The problem with an extended mag for a rimmed round is that the round does not stack straight. A full size 1911 in 9mm can hold ten rounds, but a Coonan .357 only 7 because the stacking in a straight mag causes problems.
